Contact naps

I hope this doesn’t come across as negative because it’s not intended to be. I was stuck with contact napping 5 times a day, every hour and a half and it really really got me down. Every post I saw on contact napping always had a comment saying ‘enjoy it, it won’t last forever’. Which may be true for some but I truly was not enjoying it past the new born stage. My LO has been able to sleep in his own next to me for naps now for about a month and my feelings are still the same. Every time I put him down, Im do grateful I get to do SOMETHING. Whether that be eating a meal, cleaning, watching tv alone 😂, getting dressed, showering, napping…. The list can go on. We’ve also been able to go to sensory class because I can actually get dressed, pack his bag and set up his pram whilst he sleeps. I now by choice do the morning nap as contact in the sling as I’ve adapted my morning to it and to give my LO a longer nap. I guess this is just to say, it’s okay if you don’t enjoy them at the moment and you don’t have to look at the brighter side. It can be very debilitating and crap. But, You will get there soon ❤️

👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 agreed! I’ve just started being able to put my LO down for naps now and actually feel like I can be a bit more myself and productive again

How have you guys managed to help little one stay down for naps 😩? My LG will go down in her next to me but will only stay asleep for one sleep cycle in there (30 min sleep cycles, by the time I've put her down about 20 mins if sleep left) I only get about 20 mins to do everything once when I put her down before she wakes up again . Have your little ones been able to start connecting their sleep cycles in the day?

@Robyn mine doesn’t stay down for long, around 35-40 mins and the nap is finished. Not sure how to help them connect cycles 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Robyn yeah like Isabelle it varies, the longest he’s done is an hour and a half and the shortest has been 25 mins 😂 on average i would say 45 mins so one sleep cycle. I’m taking what I can get at this point 😅 I believe it should start to get longer naturally but I’m all ears for any tips people may have
