Crash or wrong reading?

I went out for breakfast and had eggs, sausage, bacon, and one French toast. My fasting number was 81. Took my BS 1h after first bite even though I took a bit longer to eat than usual, came back 150. Note: I did use hand sanitizer twice as I didn't have where to wash my hands, and we made a few stops before heading home. Took my BS again within 20min and after washing my hands (not at home, so not usual soap/paper to dry), and it was 85. I'm thinking it was not such a high number to cause a huge spike and crash and also not enough time, but what do you think? Took my blood sugar again 2h after first bite, and it was 88. So very confused.

Personally wouldn’t go with the above advice for the safety of your unborn baby. Could have been the alcohol in the hand sanitizer but also I know I could never touch carbs in the morning without it shooting my numbers up. Possibly a wrong reading but nothing you can do now. Plenty of water and a walk always helped when I got a high reading x

Could have been a wrong reading. Could have been the alcohol. Probably a little of everything. There is a reason they do a number of readings and go off of trends and not a single number. I wouldn't worry too much about the one number but like Megan said, if you notice a certain food doesn't agree with you (especially at a specific time of day) that is something to take note of.

I'm on insulin for the fasting numbers, so I'm supposed to get more carbs for breakfast than before. My numbers are usually 92-95 after breakfast with the carb, so that's why it surprised me. I'll definitely keep an eye, but thinking it was a wrong reading as 15min was much lower.

And definitely drinking tons of water when it happens. Thankfully not often
