Part time request

Just wondering what everyone’s experience is with making a request to return part time after MAT leave? I’ve arranged a meeting tomorrow with the head teacher and deputy about returning 4 days a week after maternity leave. Just wondering what I should say as my reasons and arguments for if they reject my request?

Following with an extension question 🤣 if I've been paid extra on top of maternity leave and they decline a request do I still have to pay back? 🤣

I’m pretty sure you do as you agreed to a full time contract, going part time is a request 😩

I requested to return part time and it was granted. I just said due to child care and the fact that I wanted to have a good balance of being with my baby and managing workload I wanted to request a PT return. It was then discussed at a governors meeting and agreed by the head. Other teachers at mine had previously been allowed to go back part time so if I'd not been allowed, I would have said something. If there are any teachers at your school that have returned PT that's a good sign hopefully 🤞

The request will all depend on the needs of the school. It will depend on budget and if it would work. Most schools should be accommodating as long as there’s plenty of time.
