@Louise honestly don’t know what to do , will definitely speak to my health visitor but I did mention it before and she didn’t really give me much . I’ve never had to deal with this with my other children so I’m a bit stuck on what to do . Good luck xx
@Safia he’s my eldest of my two so this is first time experience he’s not much fan of the potty when I brought it into livingroom xx
A potty seat for the toilet and just let them run around in tshirt and pants. My little girl is 3 in August and we've started potty training within the last month.
@Zoe Naomi do you get lots of accidents on the floor ?? Is your house carpeted? I showed him the toilet seat and it freaked him out , he was in tears refusing to even look at it . Trying to find what ways I can use to convince him to try at least sit on it .
@Safia house is carpeted throughout. We get little to go sit on the Potty when either one of us need to go, we ask nearly every half an hour to an hour. 1/2 accidents the rest are in the potty. We make a game she takes her teddies with her or reading books with her.
@Zoe Naomi that’s a good idea ! Taking her teddies . My little one loves his dinosaurs so maybe will give that a go 👍🏼👍🏼
I just had my son in his underwear (with characters he likes) and a sticker chart and tried that way. His potty was out and prior to starting I read potty training books with him so he was familiar with the concept. There will be many accidents and as long as you can get the slightest bit of pee in the potty/toilet and celebrate it a lot, your son will warm to it (hopefully). I always told him to “hold it” when he started peeing and he was well aware of the mess. I did firmly tell him pee only goes in the potty. I demonstrated to him how to sit on his potty using spiderman. Really hope it goes well for you because it is a lot for you both! Maybe also give “Oh Crap! Potty Training” book, I found it useful xx
@Nazish thank you so much for this xx
My daughter will only seem 2 use her toilet if her bottom half is completely naked if I put pants on her she will just stand and wee in them she will be 3 on the 4th of July and currently trying 2 toilet train her ready for when she starts nursery in September x
My little boy is 3 in middle of July. We read books, sticker charts, little toy car and a chocolate button each time he did a poo on the potty initially. He’s seen us going to the toilet too (no privacy since his arrival 🤦🏻♀️). Does your little one go to nursery? Might help if he sees his friends using the potty. We did a few days of naked from the waist down too which whilst a bit messy I think it helped. Lots of praise even when only a small amount of wee/poo made it into the potty. I’ve heard other people have a separate toy bag for using on the potty. Blowing bubbles is another good tip to help them relax enough to go to the loo. There’s a website called ERIC https://eric.org.uk which has some good information about potty training. It will click eventually and he won’t be in nappies forever 🤗
Following as my son is three on the 25th and starting potty training in school hols. No idea what I’m doing x
