Anyone Else Weaning From Breastfeeding?
Hey mama! So happy to be a part of this group once I joined the app 🥰 I wanted to ask for advice on weaning from breastfeeding. I breastfed my daughter for 2 ½ years, but she had her pacifier for the transition that really helped her soothe herself and made going to sleep a lot easier. My son and I are just over 19 months breastfeeding now and he doesn't take a pacifier or really any bottle/cup with milk in it. He eats lots of food and loves his water and chocolate milk. I am having surgery next week on the 28th and my supply will likely dry up and I'm unable to lift him or have him on top me for 3-6 weeks 🥹
I've been given the advice to just breastfeed until he realizes I'm empty and he will learn to self soothe. I'm just worried that he will hurt me after surgery LOL. Looking for all of your tips, tricks, and advice for weaning because this breastfeeding journey has been so incredibly different than my first.
Yup, still breastfeeding. I'm feeling the need to wean, even though I don't want to because I have a 4 month old and tandem feeding is hard emotionally and mentally. My best tips is just be gentle and kind. The nice thing about 1 year olds is distracting them with something else can help immensely! Like, I'll say "No buddy we're not going to do that right now." And then, "Ooo! Look at this!!" And distract him with a toy or looking at a truck drive by outside or something. Be prepared for the emotional hard stuff you may get due to hormones fluctuation.
