Clenching fists at night.

This is super random and I don’t think it’s directly pregnancy related. I’m sure stress is contributing, even though I’m not feeling overly stressed. Just slightly overwhelmed at the moment. But at night I have been clenching my face really tight and curling my wrist and then sleeping on my hands. My fingers ache when I wake up in the morning and my pinky finger hinges and clicks when I open it. Is anyone else experiencing this? Not sure how I can prevent it from Anthony. I also have pregnancy carpal tunnel that has developed so it is super uncomfortable but I can’t get myself to stop doing it in my sleep!

Same! My doctor told me to sleep in wrist braces to prevent me from clenching my fist at night. It has helped my carpool tunnel so much!

Same here! I just mentioned to my hubby how strange it was and was like “idk I guess it could be a weird pregnancy thing” because it’s literally never happened to me before. My hands ACHE! So strange.

I do that and it’s a stress/ trauma/ neurodivergent thing for me

girl I try to explain it to my bf every hour because I’m like you just don’t get it! My pinky like clicks when I open it and my hands ache for hours when I wake up and sometimes throughout the day.

well this makes sense because I have trauma up the wazoo and adhd. Just interesting how it came on so suddenly. I am usually a jaw and teeth clencher.

ok I’ll have to try that, thank you!

For new mamas, be aware that some high masking adhd/ autistic woman are diagnosed later and after pregnancy bc motherhood can make the masks fall off. The treatment for cptsd is different, but the same thing can happen, it can trigger old traumas and they come out as emotional responses can have physical symptoms. I had zero idea as a new mom and went years thinking I was a failure and broken and an awful mother. I was wrong, I was just high masking /high functioning. So if this happens to any of you, you are not alone or broken and it’s okay to struggle and it gets better ♥️
