Hi ladies I hear mixed things about having nails done during labour. Are you going to remove it or keep it? My nails are very weak without shellac so I want to keep it but midwife advised to take it off.

I’ve just had short square French tip acrylics done. Not removing them.

There isn’t any reason to not have them apart from the fact it makes it the tiniest bit harder to read your O2 from the finger monitor during observations! I’m keeping my biab on, I doubt they will ask you to have them removed! Xx

During a c section it is important to be able to see colour of your nails as well put reading equipment on finger to read your O2 levels. You might need a c section might not but that wrong reading of oxygen levels can cost you complications hence midwifes advise against any nail polish or fake nails during labour

If I make it to Monday I will have clear shellac put on instead of a colour just because I prob won't be able to get them done for a while😅
I have been having shellac for about 15years and medium lenght nails. Can't even type a text with very short nails 😂

I believe they want to have your hand mani taken off to monitor a few things, you can always have a nice gel pedicure though and have your hair done :)
I got a nice light pink gel pedi 😌

All they have to do is put the 02 sensor sideways on your finger, i do it every day at work (not right now though hahah) get thoes nails done, we gotta feel good somehow...

yeah i had acrylics on and got lots of compliments on them, i was meant to have a planned section and the midwife who was speaking to me about it said just make sure your toes haven’t got any product on them and then it’s all good x

I’ve just give birth yesterday with gel toes and acrylic and gel fingers nothing was said
