Hi all children are different so you have to find what's best for him. Some prefer the potty and then go to the toilet seat and some skip potty and go straight to the toilet seat. My advice would be to put a potty in the corner of your living room and just make it a normal piece of furniture and occasionally show him and talk to him what it is I want it does. This is what I did with both of my children my eldest skipped the potty and went straight to the toilet which is why it's took such a long time to train him as nursery ended up doing it because I never realised he wanted the toilet straight away. Where my youngest wanted the potty. We started potty training just after her 2nd birthday and is now completely dry day and night before she turned 3 in July. So all kids are different even with the frequency of wee my son would wee every 20 to 30 minutes so I had to ask him if he needed to go every 20 to 30 mins my 3yr old has amazing bladder control and we'll go 3 times a day even now
