It depends on how long you want to use it for. They’re likely to grow out of a Moses basket alot sooner than a next to me crib. My little one wouldn’t sleep in his next to me for the first 5 weeks so we had him sleeping in the pram carrycot but he’s now in the next to me and prefers it as he can kick around more!
My baby would NOT sleep in a Moses type bassinet He was a really needy newborn and want to sleep with me So I bought the next to me crib and ever since I haven’t had an issue with him sleeping in it He also doesn’t need to be as close to me now when he sleeps! So it was a nice way to transition your baby
I've loved having a next to me crib. My baby sleeps really well in it and it feels super safe and practical. She'll fit in it until she's ready to move to her own room too, which is ideal
This is the kind of thing you will only know after your baby is born. I don’t have a Moses Basket - I have a Chicco Hug which is kinda similar but has more use as my LO grows up. My LO was always fine to sleep in her Next2Me. When she didn’t, I don’t think a Moses basket would have made a difference as she just wanted contact. Some babies just don’t like the extra space that a Next2Me offers. There are things you can buy to make them more cost but they are not recommended by the Lullaby Trust. You can always try to get both second handed if the price is an issue.
I have a moses basket downstairs and next to me upstairs, when my little girl was born she was tiny at 4lb 2oz and didn't enjoy sleeping in her next to me so I used to carry the moses basket upstairs and put it in her next to me lol. She's nearly 5 months now and sleeps in both. X
Next to me works really well for us, she prefers being nearby and it's great scooping her up for feeds and cuddles without even getting out of bed. I'm buying a moses basket a bit late (she's 8 weeks old) because I want something more portable for downstairs naps & visiting friends.
I have both, moses for daytime and next to me at night. I almost didn't get the moses but so pleased I did as you can easily move it around or take it to someone else's house. My LO has liked both since birth. He is however getting a little bit big for the basket now and it won't be long before we stop using it (he is 11 weeks).
I just had a basket, one of the larger ones and she didn't grow out of it, she started climbing out of it! So at 5.5 months we had to move her to her proper cot with the base lowered
Moses basket for me and I just carry her up and down in it in the evening/morning x
I don’t think you’ll know until your baby is here! My baby has always been fine in her next to me crib but doesn’t like the Moses basket I have downstairs as much! You could buy one and they hate it! Won’t know until they’re here I’m afraid. So much wasted money with babies! 🙈🤣
I have the exact same problem 2 of my close friends said their babies didn’t get on with a next to me so one has lent me her old Moses basket. Im planning on trying that out and maybe I’ll get a next to me when they are here.. so hard to know… 😅
I used a Moses basket for both of mine. It’s more snug and she can’t see if she wakes up while we’re doing the dirty gives us a second to get decent before she sees us 😅
I didn't get a Moses basket as downstairs we used the bassinet for pram ( suitable for overnight so figured naps are fine). Upstairs we have a next2me as it lasts longer than Moses.
I have both Moses for downstairs and next to me in our bedroom. I would say for the first 4/5 weeks baby did sleep better in the Moses as it’s a more confined space however he now sleeps every night in his next to me and barely goes down in the Moses during the day xx
