Potty training

Is any one else’s September babies not toilet trained yet. My little boy turns 3 next month. We tried potty training at the end of July and didn’t make much progress as we were due to go abroad I left it and thought we would try again when we got back. I’ve read him all the books about using the potty/toilet we’ve been and bought pants and he’s got a reward chart. He woke up this morning really excited and said goodbye to his nappies and put on his pants. However he just point blank refuses to sit on the potty or the toilet. He got up at around 8am this morning and I don’t know if he’s deliberately holding his wee but he had no accidents but wouldn’t sit on the potty at all despite me trying my best to encourage him. I’ve tried using timers, giving an instant treat if he sits on the potty but nothing seems to work he just point blank refuses which I’m not going to lie I find so frustrating. Eventually at 1 o’clock he must not have been able to hold it anymore and did a wee in his pants. As soon as he started weeing he got really upset and started shouting that he needed a nappy. I just don’t really know where to go from here- when he is wearing a nappy he will tell me he’s done a wee and ask to be changed immediately so he is aware he has really good vocabulary and is able to communicate. Has any one got any tips or advice going forward I literally don’t know where to go from here 😩🤦🏼‍♀️

I’m literally on the same boat, my boy turns 3 next month and not potty trained it. I’ve tried and it’s just not happening, he would rather pee on the floor 😩

Hiya, have you tried leaving him bare bottomed at all? X

Don't stress they will do it when ready. I also heard the later they start, the quicker they pick it up x

This is really good to hear as someone said to me that I’ve left it too late and that’s why it’s so hard so this has made me feel better x

@Lauren people should not be saying that to you 🙄 each child is different and tbh is it true that the later they learn they pick it up and understand better. Really wish people would think before they speak when commenting on kids x

I could have wrote this myself my little boy is exactly the same screams for his nappy to do a wee in will not sit on a potty or toilet or even stand and wee into the potty etc he will be 3 in a couple of weeks and I have no idea what to do with him either x

Same my little boy cried when we tried to put him on the potty. Hes behind with his talking to so doesnt even tell us if he needs to go. Gonna leave it for now.

Same boat! Ask him if he needs a wee just keeps saying "no thanks" but weeing. It's got alot better recently though we've been home 3 days just took his nappies away and put "big boys" underpants on him, also bought a toilet chair with a little step he thinks it's his special one. And a sticker chart. Won't lie he doesn't seem too keen yet but he wasn't interested at all at the start so I guess it's progress

Buy the Gina Ford potty training book. My lil one turned 3 September 3rd. I started her in June. She has the odd accident but from what I've heard from other mums..that's normal there will be odd accidents for quite a while but she made good progress pretty quickly using the methods outlined in the book. Was pretty much potty trained in 2 weeks. Feel I am tempting fate now
