So I’m wondering in the coming months when I transition my 2 year old into her toddler bed, do you have a baby gate on the bedroom door and leave the door open or just a gate at the top of the stairs and close bedroom door?

We have a gate at the door and pull the door but not completely closed xx

Our rooms are separate but have a walkway between them. Doors are always closed at night, so he’ll be able to stay in his room or come to mine. Gate will be at the stairs

We keep her bedroom door closed. No stair gates anywhere🤷🏼♀️

We are planning a stair gate. The only hard part is she then has access to our spare bedroom too, so that will need some baby proofing as well incase. But we want her to be able to make it to the toilet at night or to our room if she needs to use the bathroom. We are potty training now and will night train once she has transitioned to a toddler bed

you can’t ‘night train’ it’s developmental! Chemical reaction needs to happen in the brain to tell the kidneys not to produce/hold onto the wee during the night. Can happen between the ages of 4 & 6 years old or even as late at 8 years old. Kids will get there in their own time by the way. Google it.

@Jasmine i second this. Night time can't be trained. My eldest was out of pull ups just before my youngest was born- she was 5.5 years old. I was much more laid back when it came to night time compared to feeling nervous etc with day time

our stairs are just SO steep (we live in an old terrace) so I worry she’ll come out of her room whilst we sleep, she can open her bedroom door that’s why I am asking xx

ahh I see. I have a very old metal spiral staircase so ours are dangerous too but luckily at the age of 3.5 years old she can’t open her door (handle is too high) and she’s never once got out of bed herself, she waits for us to go and get her even though she’s in a proper bed😂 xx
