Travelling with stroller

Hello everyone, We’re planning to travel to Europe with Air Canada/Lufthansa in the near future with a baby. I’ve read a lot about the stroller policies, but I would need some personal experience. My biggest concern is the car seat, is it allowed to check-in the carseat with the base AND the bassinet as well? My baby is going to travel in our laps, we do not want to buy ticket for him-so bringing the carseat aboard with us is not an option. As per my understanding, we can bring the stroller up until boarding the plane, can’t we? Can I bring a nursing pillow aboard? Please help me with real experiences if you have, I am terrified of that flight. (We must go due to family situation😞)

I just flew domestic with Air Canada. I brought my travel stroller (Joolz Aer) and I gate checked it both ways. The flight attendants were super helpful with the whole process (especially on the way home as I was flying solo with baby). Not sure about carseat - do you need to bring it? Could you rent or buy a low cost one at your destination? I would be nervous about the carseat and base being potentially tossed around

I flew domestic with air Canada and brought a car seat, a stroller, a packand play with our luggage! The baby is allowed 2 "oversized" items before you have to pay. You CAN bring your stroller up until the plane but you may risk the chance of not being able to check it at the gate. This has not happened to us but they informed us of this.

I am nervous, too. But we’ll be there for quite a long time so I’d prefer our own car seat as we’ll be using our own car we have there, not a rented one… It was(is) an unforeseeable situation. My baby will only be 2.5-3 months old at the time of travelling🥺 This is the last thing I’d normally do, but it is what it is. Do you think they allow tho check it in?

I don't see why not! My babe was 5 months the first time we travelled and everyone was very helpful but I would say to get to the airport at least an hour early

I just flew a long haul flight with my 4mo old. I was able to gate check the car seat and stroller. I didn't have a separate bassinet attachment. If your baby is comfortable, baby carrier is a very big help especially if there is a layover as you will not get your stroller till your final destination. Do book a bassinet seat l, my bubba slept really well in bassinet they provided onboard. You can message me if you have any other questions :) Also, can bring nursing pillow onboard. I didn't bring one but a fellow passenger did.

You can Gate check the stroller and the car seat with no issues. The bassinet they will ask you to check it with your luggage and counts as an extra piece of luggage. You can bring the pillow but will also count as 1 item of the 2 you can bring. Consider that your child even in the lap is entitled to the 2 pieces on board. But double check with the airline. I also recommend to bring the carrier so you can carry your baby once you start boarding and gate check the stroller. I traveled a lot with my girl since she was 5 months and the carrier was super helpful. Bassinet seat can be helpful but theresca weight limit so check with the airline about it.

Thanks for your experiences, ladies, they’re so helpful and make calm down a bit. Did any of you bring the base for the car seat as well? Was there any problem with it?

You always need the base so yes you can bring it and keep it attached to the car seat. You can find travel bags for the car seat to keep it protected and carry around the airport obviously u need to check ot once they give it back to you at landing. Its like a back pack and its allowed for gate check. u just need to show it when checking in.

@Mon some car seats like our bucket seat have an install option without the base! Just fyi :)
