Fertility treatment

Hi. My gp just referred me to a fertility clinic and I have wait for 2 months for callback from back. Normally how will they contact us? Via post , call or email? And how long does it take for getting an scan done here?

Hi, first they will book you in for a phone consultation to go through your history. Then everything will go from there. Most likely bloods, scan, your partner’s sample etc. which hospital have you been referred to?

We recently moved to a new place and I was referred before changing my address.
I want to know whether they book appoinment via call or post as all my mail goes to old address. I don’t want to miss out appointments.

Usually by post and nhs referral can sometimes take very long

Where we were, they called us to book appointments then they sent a letter as well about the appointment. But I gues you could call them up to change your address with them or just let them know that you want them to contact you either phone or email.

They write to you by post but if you log in to the NHS app you can select to be notified by email instead. You can also see your letters on there too (you may have to do it on a desktop if it doesn’t appear on your phone).
I contacted the GP back in March and was referred. It took about a month to hear back with an appointment but the earliest appointment was August. A few days before they cancelled and rescheduled it to a month a half later, and they have again cancelled and rescheduled that to the end of October! That’s just for the phone consultation. I was told it could then take anywhere from 4 weeks to 3 months to be seen for my in person consultation.
I am now going private for tests and have an appointment in 2 weeks. Some hospitals will accept tests done privately and some don’t so it’s worth asking if you do consider going down this route and going back for IVF funded by NHS. Hopefully they won’t cancel on you and you get an appointment soon.

Is there any way to get the scan done? I have pcos and I want to know how much cyst I have. Here I couldn’t find a way to get the scan done.

you can get scan in private, it costs between £120-250 , I am not too sure in which area are you looking for.
