When to start maternity leave?

How many weeks before due date will people wbe starting mat leave? I stopped work one week before the due date with my first baby, and thinking three weeks before this time (especially with a one year old to look after already!) Thoughts?

I was supposed to stop at 36 weeks and I had to stop earlier (34) as I was struggling too much - it depends on what you do job wise

I’m planning to stop at 38 weeks, maybe too ambitious to work till then 🫣

I’m 36+3 and just wrapping up last admin tasks this weekend before stopping but I’m so shattered I wish I’d stopped a couple of weeks ago! X

Starting 4 weeks before

I’m stopping at 35+3, taking 2 weeks holiday then mat leave kicking in. Just under 3 weeks to go and it can’t come soon enough! X

I’m planning to work for as long as I can as I’m self employed and not entitled to mat pay. With my first I stopped at 38 weeks and he came 10 days late so I had about 3.5 weeks off to rest etc. which was nice.

Stopping at 39+5, but the last two weeks will be working from home so not running around a busy GP surgery.

My maternity leave starts 6 days before my due date. So will work until then unless baby has other plans! I had no leave left to take beforehand. But I work part time in an office so I can manage. I worked until 37 weeks with my first which was a much more active job but was moving house at the time too x

I was planing 36 weeks but went at 33 after 2 weeks sick in hospital etc and other stuff. My body made the decision for me in the end

2 weeks before her due date but I could’ve easily finished up before then! 😂

I'm stopping at 3 weeks before xx

Avatar

I stopped at 33 I’m a support worker and it was too much x

I'm stopping at 35+6 so basically 36. Most of my friends said that should leave a nice amount of time to get sorted without feeling like too long since it's baby #1

I’m stopping at 37 weeks, I’m 35 weeks now and am starting to struggle if I am honest. My job is full on though and I often can do a 10 hour day, so that probably has a lot to do with it!

I work with adults with special needs and challenging behaviours, I did plan on working right up until my due date but have struggled so much during my third trimester so I’ve took early maternity and will start on Monday (36 weeks). Don’t push your self to hard and if you feel you need to start maternity earlier, do it. I’m so happy I get to relax for at least a few weeks before babies arrival xx

I'm taking annual leave at 37w1d and then mat leave starts 38w1d. I'm so done with work, it's never been this stressful and full on. We've just fired someone and I'm training 2 people at different jobs and now managing another 2 all due to this one guy leaving x

I work 7.30-6 in a private nursery and starting annual leave at 35+3 and maternity start at 38+3.

I'm vaguely planning to start at 37+ 1 but it's my first so considering doing part time/work from home until a bit closer to the due date. I do want a bit of time to get some things ready at home though.

Finishing on 15th Sept at 36 + 5.

Starting mine at 36+6 I work in a school and have two kids in primary school so I will be too exhausted to work and do school runs.
