Iron tablet side effects

I couldn't do them. They made me so sick. I am on the liquid and it's much better. Get tablets prescribed for the heartburn x

I feel the same if I am not eating enough carbohydrates while taking the tablet.
Started taking proper carbs and took tablet immediately after the meal and it was all okay.
Hope it works for you too. Otherwise speak to the midwife or GP.

I take them at night before I go to bed. Sometimes wake up with heart burn but I usually fall asleep before it starts 😂

Try the spatone liquid if you can it's so easy on the stomach

I couldn't take them, the side effects were horrible, ended up having an infusion in the end.

Floradix is the best one. Spatone isn't strong enough x

Try and drink a pint of orange juice with them (fresh or carton) it’ll make you feel loads better! Orange juice helps the absorption of iron x

The midwife just advised me to take with orange juice as meant to help absorb them x

I'm meant to have 3 a day for 3 months, I'm currently taking a little break. But really need to start them back up as my tiredness is unreal 😴

Make sure you take them after you have eaten a meal and best to take with orange juice too. I had really bad stomach pain and was being sick when I took my tablets on an empty stomach. I was so ill all day long! X

I feel nauseous and bloating/discomfort on them pretty much all the time, my GP has changed them after a week from Ferrous Sulphate to Ferrous Fumerate as I wasn’t tolerating but tbh still feeling the same! Other symptoms like feeling lightheaded and palpitations but I think that’s the anaemia symptoms

Ask if you can try another type. I had stabbing stomach pains with the first type but was fine with the next ones prescribed.

And I second buying yourself liquid iron and gentle release capsules.
