Why does she feel the need to kiss baby?! His 8 days old. I’ve explained reasons why not to. She’s not respecting that by having asked twice!
Frustrating!! Only just come out of hospital.

I ask my nana not to kiss my baby, for a whole good 6 months+ she made a massive deal out of it. Made digs, would STILL kiss her and then ask why I’m mad? She made herself feel victimised when I’d asked everyone not to kiss my baby, nobody else had a problem with it only her. She gets cold sores too which is another reason why it’s a no no

I understand and agree that it's a real no no. BUT, maybe there's a compromise? Like, kiss the top of baby's head? I had no problem my Nan kissing his head, but no one was to kiss his face or hands (because hands go in their mouth)

Put baby in a sling. That makes it clear and tell her why bubs is in a sling xx

absolutely not, no mouth is going near my baby😂

Is there no safe way to kiss the baby? E.g. thighs, back or hair. If no, when would it become safe? Don’t you give the same bacteria by just holding them?

I have a friend who lost their child because of this. Set boundaries asap and give no apologies for it.
Your baby is your main priority- not the feelings of others. Also make sure you have the support of your partner.
If you have a good relationship with them and want to keep it positive- go through evidence and examples online as why it is important to not kiss babies. If they are reasonable they will hear you and understand. If not …. Their lose!

hey! Just to answer your questions - the areas to avoid are face and hands as these areas are close to the mouth - this most important in a first couple of months while baby cannot fight infection on their own. However, personally I would keep this up til 1/2 years if possible (just after experiences I have read online).
For example - cold sores - kissing someone’s arm may not pass that on however lip contact - even if the person does not currently have one can result in baby catching the infection.
I hope this helps ❤️

I was sick of my partners family doing stuff like that, so whenever we went round his families houses, I wore baby in a wrap sling 😂 didn’t even offer for them to hold baby

I find it so weird that anyone would think it appropriate to kiss someone else's baby.
Even I wont be kissing my baby on the mouth and wont be letting anyone else do it anywhere on their body. 🤮

Tell her NO MEANS NO. You are the Mother and You set boundaries and rules for your child to keep them safe. If she doesn't respect that then go no contact for your childs safety

Doesn’t bother me in the slightest. But she should be respecting your rules.

My MIL gave both my kids RSV as we were trying to move states. Now she hasn’t seen them since 🤷♀️ you can’t stop them if they don’t respect your words lol so just watch them and explain that love is given in more than kisses 😂

See my thing is you won’t hold the baby if you can’t respect the boundaries or terms and conditions of me trusting you with my baby … and that has worked out on my part for sure hope it works for some others if necessary
