so I am almost 31 weeks pregnant. I quit smoking completely at 20 weeks, and I have gained over 60lbs this pregnancy so I am definitely overweight now. I don’t understand why at the doctors I am still testing positive for weed in my system? Is it because I am overweight? I am terrified because if its positive at birth the hospital is very likely to report to CPS and open a case. But maybe they only do that if its in the babys system? I’m not sure I am just very worried about a cps case and still peeing dirty when I give birth. Can they test the levels/compare to prove that I havent smoked in a long long time?

yes it has to do with weight as well as how often you used thc. was it a urine test?
yes it was a urine test. I figured! also was a very heavy smoker morning to night pre pregnancy

Drink an unimaginable amount of water (just not too much!) and pee a bunch

that's definitely why. if you are using any thc now it shouldn't show up when you have baby. not sure what state your in so i cant speak to it's laws. but im in Illinois and smoked until the night i went into labor. i was tested and obviously came back positive but they didn't test my baby or say anything to me about it.

Weight definitely affects as it sticks to fat usually. I stopped at like 10 weeks maybe and was still showing positive in urine. They checked his meconium at birth and he was positive so I had a cps case. Thankfully for me, the social worker was exposed to stuff in another case and couldn't visit my new born. I have no history so we did it through the phone/pictures and I got the letter that nothing was found. I was definitely scared and anxious but in my case (Texas) they mostly seemed interested in our home looking safe and secure with sleep places. They just asked me for pictures of bathroom, kitchen, bedrooms and bassinets/crib.

Also keep in mind that if they test meconium in the baby that starts forming at around 12 weeks so it will likely show up. :(

Really depends on how much and how long you were smoking for as well as body fat. My dad is a heavy smoker has been probably 40 years he had to go clean for a cancer treatment and after three months clean he still tested possitive.
