My 3 week old has a slightly gunky eye. It’s sage online it’s normal and just to clean with cool boiled water on some cotton wool. Is this right? I don’t want to leave it if I should get him seen.

My 2 week old has this. We’ve had a swabbed to check for infection but came back clear. GP said that if it was an infection the whites of the eye would be red also. Said it was probs just an immature tear duct and it’ll just get better over time as they grow. Just to bathe with boiled, cooled water a few times a day.

My 3 week old baby also has a gunky eye, it was swabbed and he has an infection😓. Was given chloramphenicol eye ointment, currently using that and bathing with cool boiled water in between x

Midwife said it was normal and there tear ducts are developing. And to use breast milk on it. Work a treat for my little one. X

My 2 week old has the same thing, just the tear duct

My 3 week old has the same issue. I read it’s normal online too so not worried.
