5 month old not drinking

My baby has just turned 5 month old and for the past couple of days he has not been drinking his milk. He’s drinking maybe an ounce each time and it’s crying so much when we try to offer some. He usually drinking around 920-980ml a day and he’s now only drinking 600ml a day. I am scared he is going to be dehydrated because it’s sooooo warm outside 😅 any advice?

Could he be teething? Weve had the same issue and is very clearly teething. We even took him to the GP because I was that worried he wasn't drinking his milk. They suggested to up his teat size even if its just while he's teething to help relieve the pain from sucking. Apart from that I have no tips and I guess we just have to ride it out 😭

Yeah he has been teething for a while but it’s never bothered him this much! We have tried all the teething things like the powder and the gels but nothing seems to give him relief so I will look into changing his teet size to see if that helps!

We have the exact same issue nothing relieves his pain, just the teat size means he's actually taking some milk (still not like he was before but enough for me not to worry!) I'm hoping that mine has got fussier because they're about to cut through and I'll keep my fingers crossed that its the same for your little one 🤞 its horrible seeing them in such pain. He's been literally inconsolable today x

Yeah it’s such a worry especially in this ridiculous heat! I’m so worried he’s not eating enough 😔 I’ll order some size 3 teats just now and I’ll try it with him tomorrow to see if that helps! The anxiety I get everytime I go to feed him because I know he’s not going to drink it and he’ll be so fussy and just cry 😔

Yep I'm the same! The problem is they can sense our anxiety and that probably makes it worse but its so hard not to get anxious! I hope the teats work for you. I've found calpol works when he's really bad with the pain, and the GP said not to be afraid to give him it now and again because once a day won't harm him! Obviously just don't give it all the time 😂xx

Can you offer him cooled boiled water? It will keep him hydrated especially in this weather. Mine haven’t been drinking much milk but he’s got a cold atm but I offer water and he’s taking bits of that x

My boy hardly ever has milk during the day when it's hot but then he tends to feed every 2 hours through the night 🙃
