True. It's completely true. My only issue is that she's painting this as a bad thing. Shame and peer pressure are effective tools. We use them to keep kids from doing drugs, underage driving, stealing. If a parent believes that a behavior is definitively wrong, than it is well within their rights to curb that behavior using those tools. I mean, would she rather parents use the tool of physical force? No! Kids would wind up dead.

Oh, and there's more I want to say. Because most Christians believe that homosexuality is a choice, they do in a way believe that certain teachers are trying to coerce students into choosing that sexuality. If it's an inherent trait, obviously no one can change you, but if it's a choice, the way the subject is first approached is incredibly important.

I totally agree with what she's saying I just don't agree that all Christians feel this way.
I've met a lot of highly religious people that have put those parts of their religion aside in order to be accepting of all people.
I also think people confuse talking about sexuality as something sexual, which it's not!

that’s the problem though - the ones that are the most hateful and cause the most pain are the loudest spoken. They are our community leaders, our political leaders. Anyone who is not fighting against hate is complicit. The current religious movement in this country has become so intertwined in politics despite not paying taxes and despite there being a supposed strict separation of church in state written into our laws (in the states). We were supposed to have freedom of belief and religion and now, there are very large and powerful people trying to force their “Christian” beliefs on the public school system. It’s not okay. They want to change the history that is taught. They want to change sex education. Guess how teens get unwanted pregnancies? Lack of sex education. Guess why sexual abuse is so wildly rampant in the religious communities? Lack of sex education. Where can kids go to ask questions about their body, desires, why pastor billy touched their private parts?

Anyway they can’t go anywhere. They will be shamed and blamed by their parents, and their community. Children should never feel shame about asking questions. Sexual education is the only thing that will prevent abuse, accidental pregnancies, etc.. if we teach them to shame themselves over their bodies then they will never come to us for help when they need it most. Victims will always blame themselves. Why? Because they were taught shame first.
This all ties into the video above because it’s not just about “the gays are turning our kids gay”. They are using buzz words and fear mongering to string along the less educated to their cause, which is to shame and control.

Just saying “not all Christians are like this” is too easy. It is the leaders of the Christian movement that are like this. If you aren’t against it, you support it.

I don't disagree with you at all believe me. Plus I'm far from religious 🤣 I'm just saying I've met a lot of people who practice religion of all kinds who aren't this way. Maybe cause I'm Canadian, who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I just don't agree with lumping people all together like that.

I’m an strong atheist that was raised in California among Catholics and in Tennessee among southern baptists. I’m been around so many different types of religious communities in between Muslims to Jehovah’s witnesses. I’ve had many people ask me how I can be a “good” person without a god, but really It baffles me how someone needs a big scary guy in the sky to threaten with burning in an eternal fire in order for them to be a good person. Being good and kind and compassionate can be taught without religion. Unfortunately the US is on the verge of becoming a theocracy, while many states are already attempting to operate as such, passing laws every day based on religious beliefs i.e the abortion laws, banning books, removing sex education from schools. It’s a shame really. If you like documentaries you should watch keep sweet pray and obey, and Jesus Camp.

I'm an atheist as well so I totally get it and as a Canadian I'm your neighbor so I watch the turmoil in your country. I know religion has a lot to do with it as well as many other things.
