New to FL weather

Hi there! We just moved to Florida in Wimauma from Minneapolis. I have two toddlers and wondering how to dress them during fall and winter time.
How are winters here? Last week I went to Walmart and saw puffer jackets for them and long sleeve shirts.
What should I expect?
Asking bc I want to be prepared and buy clothes in advance.
Thank you!

I have twin 3yos and I put them in long sleeves and jeans mostly, occasionally a mid weight hoody on cold days

Last winter it got down to the 30’s and 40’s so I guess it just depends on the kids tolerance for the cold. The days start cold but do warm up pretty quickly. Long sleeves under tshirts are my go to!

Why go incognito to ask about the weather 😩

My kids have like 2 long sleeves and hoodies. That's really all you need for those couple days in February where it gets cold and even then it usually warms up in a couple hours. Def no need for a puffer jacket lol idk who chooses the clothes to stock at Walmart 🤦‍♀️

January is the coldest month here sometimes December. I personally have us in shorts most of the year but once it’s close to 60-70 degrees we’re freezing and I have more layers. Mid day will be the best temp it’s more cold am and evening

50s, 60s “winter”. Fall weather is non existent.

I guess you should consider which part of Florida. South FL is the weather I described. I’m sure northern fl gets a more decent fall and winter.

Do no buy a single coat for winter lol

You should get light jackets and sweatshirts for colder weather. It can get down to 30s-40s at the lowest in the early mornings but it warms up. You def don’t need winter jackets. Not like up north. Im from Rhode Island where the winters are below freezing.

I lived in Vero, Orlando and the more north florida you are and especially by the beach it gets chilly. We get some cold fronts. My favorite! I would get a light coat if you plan on doing some walking at night or early mornings. Def hoodies on those cold
Front days. We get Freeze sometimes that kills the grass and plants. My sister lives in Tampa and gets frost on her windows soooo I mean you might have come from a colder climate like me but once you accumulated to florida weather you will get chilly one day in the future.

U can get the jackets but probably won't need them long. I wouldn't get anything pricy. Long sleeve is fine but tbh it can be 60 when u leave in morning and 80/90s by 11 and after. Dress in layers!!!! So u can take items off kids when hotter. Also one day may be cold and the next day like it never happened!
