My daughter ..is it anger issues?

My daughter gets so angry with her little brother. If he starts talking, she goes off and calls him names. If he just come by me, she pushes him and yells at him. When I kiss them before they leave for school, she wipes his kiss off of me before she kisses me. Everything he does frustrates her. If he cries about something hurting him, she screams at him and calls him a girl. She tries to hit him and gets upset when I stop her. My son told me yesterday that she is not nice like she use to be. She is really hurting his feelings. I don't know what to do. I can't punish her because I feel she needs to be heard.

Does she get half an hour of 1 on 1 time with you daily?

Definitely sounds like jealousy. Has anything in her life changed in the past few months?

We have "Saturday Slumber Party" every Saturday night. We play board games, pillow fight, watch a movie, and eat snacks. I've been doing this with her since she was 6 years old.

She can both be heard and get in trouble for treating her brother like absolute crap. He needs to feel SAFE. You need to talk to her and find out WHY she treats him like that. I see you're already doing a special night with her weekly.

Has she seen some one treating some one younger that way and is mimicking behavior? Either way she needs to be called out for it in the moment and held accountable.

No one does what she does to her brother. She just feels like he acts like a baby. She's not understanding that he's a little different than her. He still has that kid mind.

I only asked that cause my step sons go to their moms and some times see things and repeat them. Specifically calling boys girls for crying.

Well her dad always tell her brother to stop crying like a girl. And always telling him to 'man up'.

there you go then. That's at least half the problem.

slumber party is great but kids crave undivided attention every day. If you can't do half an hour daily, can you do 10-15 mins? Just before bedtime or as part of bedtime routine?

Avatar

Yes..I can do that. Sometimes I get too busy and get annoying when she hops in my office every 5 seconds. You are right.. that has to be the answer.. More quality time with her than just slumber parties.
