I am so worried, a relative came round today and she held my 4 week old. I noticed she had a coldsore when she was holding him and took him off her shortly after. She didn’t kiss him and washed her hands before but I can’t stop worrying that she could possibly have passed it to him. Why do people hold babies knowing they have a cold sore I’m absolutely heartbroken. Can someone please give me some reassurance 😩

I’m a nanny and get cold sores frequently. I am still able to work even with small babies. I always wash my hands often and babies don’t come close to my face. None of the babies has gotten them from me. But she should have told you. I always ask my employer if they are happy for me to work whenever I have a cold sore.

My little girl is currently 8 days. Old and I have a coldsore at the moment due to being run down after birth etc, aslong as she didn’t kiss him he will be fine x
