I don’t have specifics but I’d personally avoid herding dogs like sheepdogs etc just to be safe because they tend to nip and round up from what I hear.
Also following because I want a dog eventually

Our pitbull beagle is the best out of our 3 with our boy. They are best friend and she’s nothing but a sweetheart to him. Plus she’s too stupid to have a mean bone in her body 😭

Staffy X

Labs are famously amazing family dogs. Had one as a child, and truly amazing dog.
But in my personal experience? Rescue mutts 🤷

Labs and Goldens are great with kids.

I need to see the pitbull beagle! I’ve never seen that combo!

I would say a lab, golden or a pittie

Beagle

Cocker spaniel or any spaniel breed. Need lots of exercise and stimulation but equally will chill and cuddle up. We’ve just lost our 14.5yr old cocker and he was the absolute best with our baby he was also great with all kids growing up during his 14.5yrs 😊

We have a spaniel lurcher cross and he is amazing with all kids and amazing with our newborn

How much dog experience do you have? How much training do you plan to do? Because some of the best family dogs may be “too much dog” for a first time owner.
Level 1: Golden Retriever. Needs exercise and basic training, but is pretty satisfied just chilling on the couch with the family.
Level 2: Spaniel. Needs are about the same, but they have more energy and typically more drive, so they would like more activities like hiking or swimming with the family.
Level 3: German Shepherd. They have a lot of energy, and will need a job. If you want to do advanced obedience and other fun activities, a shepherd is a great family dog. But they HAVE to have the training put into them.
You can always check shelters and rescues. Remember that if you go to a breeder you need to find a reputable, ethical breeder. Don’t go to a backyard breeder, pet store, or puppy mill. Genetics matter a lot, along with proper health testing and titling. Message me if you want any help finding one.

My lab and gs are both amazing with my son so I'd say either of them

Golden retriever.
