Hi mommas!
It seems like my LO has really bad dry skin / eczema. I’m currently using qv cream ceramide and it works. But the redness comes and goes and his skin gets red flaky after a nap so I have to lather him with the cream again. I also notice he cries when I put the cream on his face. I think it’s because it stings his face.
Can someone recommend a good cream that’s non stingy or a good children doc to have him checked? I’m from the western Sydney area.
Pic of what his face looks like. If usually gets more red and bumpy but camera doesn’t capture it well.
TIA! 😊

Could it be baby acne? My bub is 4wks old and has a very similar looking rash. From my reading I think that’s what it is (I am a medical doctor, but no paeds experience so not totally sure). Apparently caused by withdrawal from maternal hormones after birth, and theoretically clears up itself without any treatment after a few weeks/months. Really hoping my baby’s clears up because it looks awful! But doesn’t seem to bother her. Was thinking if it didn’t resolve would get it checked out…

Oh my baby is 4 months old now 😅 he had baby acne and cradle cap around that time. It cleared up but started getting really dry skin over a month now. It just comes and go. I don’t know if it’s because of winter. I’ll be travelling overseas to Asia so hopefully the warmer climate will suit him better 😆

Ohh haha yes maybe a bit late then! Fingers crossed a bit of nice warm humid weather helps him out. Sounds pretty good to me right now too 😂

My baby had a rash like something around 1 month but because it wasn’t itchy I left it alone. It cleared up by itself in about 3 weeks.

I used Wotnot baby lotion on my baby's eczema. I applied the cream multiple times a day (maybe 5 times) during a flare up.
I also used 1% steroid cream during the flare up too but you could try 0.5% first. The steroid cream should help give bub some relief. Applying cream at the moment could just be irritating rather than the cream being the problem so you need to get the condition under control - the steroid cream should help with this.
Any GP should be able to assess this for you.

My bubs gets a similar redness on his cheeks. I use the Mustela 24hr recovery cream and it always clears it up. I wipe his face each morning and then use the cream and same after bath time. I think it works well and it doesn’t seem to bother his skin ☺️

Natural chamomile tea , boil and place on a gauze on the face or body (when it's cooled down) will heal very quickly on its own with natural tea
