My little girl has such a bad fever. It’s been spiking on and off all day. We went to the hospital at 3am this morning and they think it’s a combination of her 16 week vaccines (had them on Tuesday) and a virus. We’ve to keep an eye on her and if it’s not cleared by Saturday to go back.
She’s been so fussy and unsettled and is barely feeding (she is eating just not as much as usual). She’s had wet nappies but not as much as normal. She’s been sleeping so much too! With the combination of Calpol and ibruprpfen it settles her for a bit and then she’s so upset.
I’m just exhausted from two nights of no sleep and probably a third and I feel like such a crap mum that I can’t help my baby girl.
So today is day 3 and it’s the worst yet. Please tell me it gets better 😭

Does your partner work? Can he maybe take tomorrow off as a holiday or something so he can be support? Just so you can grab a sleep whilst he has baby so your not so tired, you will be able to deal with it better, this heat won't be helping her either poor girl! My girl had a temp at 11 weeks of 39 for 2 days we took her the hospital and it was a urine infection, straight in antibiotics through a drip and within an hour of her being on them her temp came right down and stayed down, if your not happy I would go get checked again, what symptoms of a viral infection does she have?
She has a cough but no other symptoms. They tested her urine etc and all is fine. Other than her temp she is in good shape.
Yeah my partner works and he WFH on Friday so hoping I’ll get a bit of help x

Oh yeah just keep an eye on it, they are so quick to diagnose viral infections but if she has the cough then yeah, it's so hard, when my baby was poorly I felt sick to my stomach. Sure she will be better soon enough x
@yeah I’m currently feeling so overwhelmed. I’m too scared to go to sleep tonight incase or spikes and I miss it 😭

I know the feeling, have you timed it so she has medicine right before bed? That way you have a good 2-4hrs before she will need another dose? When my baby was spiking a temp I was setting my alarm every 2hrs just so I could check on her, I also only put her to bed in a vest and a thin blanket just so I wasn't making it worse, it's so hard when it's a temp because it can go downhill very quickly, it's so scary but make sure you and partner take shifts tonight so you can get some rest as if she's like this tomorrow you won't cope as well x
