I think that is common with iron supplements. Can you talk to your health care provider about if there's a way to get enough iron through diet? I wouldn't stop taking the supplement unless you get the go ahead from the doc/midwife but maybe there's alternatives to explore?

I was low iron, as many pregnant women are but I believe I was low low. I started going for iron administered via intravenously. I did 3 sessions and went for final blood work last week, I’m now comfortably in the normal range and my OB is very happy to see it. Low iron can be very dangerous if you bleed a lot during birth.

I already discussed with them … they said please continue the iron supplements but I didn’t feel good☹️

How much iron content we need for giving birth

I’m taking Ferrotrate and it made me really nauseous at first. So I started taking it halfway through my dinner with orange juice. Seems to have helped. It made me feel way worse when I took it a few hours after eating when my stomach was not as full.

Just take beef liver! Doesn’t make you sick, corrects the iron issue and has amazing other nutrients and benefits!

but they suggest me take the tablet only in the empty stomach in early morning …. And take the meal after 1 hour

ohh tq for u r suggestion dear , but I only eat chicken in NV

My midwife said I should take it with a meal and at night. Maybe ask your doctor if you can try doing that

If your iron is low you’ll want to take those supplements before giving birth! Just in case you lose too much blood giving birth, I did. It’s called hemorrhaging and they told me if I had still been very low on iron it would have been a LOT worse with how much blood I lost, you could pass out or go septic or something idk but I’d be safe!

it’s a vitamin! I would never eat beef liver either haha YUCK!

I know the iron supplements suck, they made me feel nauseous too. Try taking them with a glass of orange juice it helps a little and the vitamin c helps your body absorb the iron better

Avatar

ok I will try it too

A good quality iron supplement is what u need (not a drug store one). Thorne brand is one I took, no nausea no icky taste. Floradex is another whole foods based.

Have the supplement with orange juice.
It helps with the nausea
Im always low in iron so constantly going back to supplements and had the issue during pregnancy.
Orange juice helped a lot
