Night feed

Anyone had success weaning baby from a night feed? Baby naturally weaned down to 1 feed but no signs of drooping this. Wondering how long it takes? Don’t really want to do the weaning myself, still hoping it will happen naturally. Just after people’s experiences

We made the feed smaller and smaller until he stopped waking for it

Last night for the first night ever my LO didn’t wake for a night feed. He has only just woke now (6am) for a feed (he was last fed at 7.40pm) I don’t know if it’s a fluke or he’s naturally dropping that feed 🤷🏻‍♀️

how long did it take? Or how long did you leave between reducing each amount and did he settle after the feed.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you. How much does little one usually drink at a feed? I really want her to do it naturally but she’s drinking 5/6 ounces which is a max feed size for her!

So he breastfeeds through the night and his morning feed. Then he had (doesn’t always drink it all though) 7oz at 12, 4 and bedtime (between 7-8pm) He also has breakfast and dinner. No lunch or snacks atm coz I want him to still drink his milk x

I think it took about 2 weeks or so, he was having 8oz so I reduced it to 7 for about 2/3 days, then 6 and so on. We only got down to 4oz and then he stopped waking anyway. What I read said after you get to 3oz to take it away completely and offer water rather than doing 1 or 2oz milk bottles.

I don't have 1st hand experience of this as my little girl just went longer and longer each night til she started waking at 7.
A friend of mine reduced the feed by an ounce every few days and then baby stopped waking for the feed or if they do wake maybe offer a bit of water 1st and see if they're just thirsty instead of hungry

what do you offer the water in? A bottle? Or her usual water cup?
