Sick leave
I need a reason to take a few days off next week without starting my maternity leave.
I'm hugely stressed, work is too much. I need to give a stupid presentation I've put together in my own time on whatever I want to a new boss.. pointless and not worked related.
I'm hot, tired, hormonal, juggling new secondary school runs, home life, appointments. I just can't 😠but they are really pressuring me! ðŸ˜

If its within a certain time frame before you're due to go off anyway, they can kick start your maternity leave from when you go off sick. Even if it's not pregnancy related x
You could just say your little ones poorly and nothing related with you and pregnancy? Say they've got a bug? Surely they can't kick start mat leave then if technically not related to u and baby?
I’ve just been signed off on bereavement leave from 37 weeks - 38+5, and then my mat leave starts from 38+6 (I thought the doctor would put stress on the sick note) and HR haven’t said anything about kick starting Mat leave as it’s not a pregnancy condition. From 36 weeks they can only do that if it’s pregnancy related.
You could maybe say food poisoning, or stress itself would be fine to say!

Some work places can - if I call sick 4 weeks before elected maternity start date or due date it triggers start of my Mat leave.
Take annual leave or welfare leave.
I would be honest - you are hot, it’s 32 degrees outside, you are 9 months pregnant and your head is not in the right place. Ask to do presentation when you get back from maternity leave.
Sorry to hear that you are feeling this way. My understanding was that they could kick start it from 36 weeks if you took time off for something pregnancy related. If you took a day off because you had a cold, I don’t see how they could justify kickstarting your leave early. Covid is doing the rounds again (I’ve just had it)….
I got a gastric bug from my toddler in my second trimester if you need that as an idea, she was sick for a week and then so was I! We weren’t going anywhere. It was hell and very contagious. Might be a good excuse? X
