Playpen at 10 months..
My son is 10 months old. Right now we are saving to buy a house. We live in a sort of run-down trailer currently. It's small. And we have too much stuff. I don't know how to fully baby proof the place. Right now, my son spends most of his playtime in a 5 ft by 5ft play yard. I feel bad that he isn't exploring freely. He's crawling and starting to walk. I'm afraid of him hurting himself if he's out of there. Or of our dog stepping on him. Our dog is over a hundred lbs but acts like he's a lap dog and doesn't understand his size. Our living room area isn't much bigger than my son's playpen. Really just enough room to walk with furniture and the playpen.
I'm worried that restricting him like that will hurt his development. We go outside to give him more freedom. He seems to be doing fine. But I know he gets bored.
I get in there every day and play with him. But do I need to stop using it completely?

I use a playpen too bc we also have a big dog but I also take baby outside on her playmat or upstairs where dog isn’t allowed so she can more freely crawl around which it sounds like you’re doing something similar which is great! Also if he’s crawling and starting to walk already then his development is definitely not being impeded and he’s right where he should be!😊
