What is the longest stretch of time your 7/8 month old sleeps independently? I feel like it’s 2 hours at most and then after about 2am co-sleeping is the only way I can get a good stretch of time with her.

We co sleep and my son can go 5 hours before waking up for a feed then back to sleep for 4 hours. Some days he wakes up for more feeds.

My 8 month old sleeps through the night but he’s been sleeping through the night since he was around 3 months

I feel for you, my first still doesn’t sleep through the night and he’s 2. Every baby is different, work on a good routine, I find bath, lotion then cool down time in the dark help both my boys to get better sleep. My youngest who’s 8m now sleeps through the night

my son has slept through the night since about 3 months, he’s currently 8 months and sleeps for almost exactly 12hrs (7pm-around 7am)

My LO is all over the place but she can frequently only wake up once in a 13 hour span. I haven't coslept at all with her (too anxious I'll roll on her or something!) And she has been sleeping in a crib since about 5 months, a playpen before that. But I've found with my second it's so true that all babies are different but really do respond well to a routine even if its different to the first ones!

For the last week, my ebf son sleeps for 6-7 hours before a cry for feed followed by 2-3 hours and then 1-2 hours. Usually the last stretch we co-sleep.
Update: he slept from 9 to 6 without intervention for 2 days 🤞

12 hours in a crib since about 4 months. She's bottle fed now, when we were BF she was at 8hrs at the longest. We did sleep train with the help of a sleep consultant at 3 1/2 months which was a game changer as at 3 months she reverse cycled and was up every 2 hours.

My LO is almost 8 months and he wakes up every 2-4 hours. He has had periods of sleeping longer (4-6.5 hour stretches) but then seems to regress again lol. It’s all over the place. I am debating sleep training when he’s 9 months.

@Devony if you are thinking about sleep training, why wait? The longer you wait the harder it will be.

mainly because right now I breastfeed to sleep and a part of me doesn’t want to give it up because it’s the only time I get to snuggle him lol. But also my MIL and SIL kinda guilt tripped me about it when I mentioned it at 6 months and said he was too young and that she waited until 9 months. I don’t really agree with that but it just kinda stuck with me

@Devony I EBF too. I did sleep training at 4 months. My girl sleeps 12 hours at night.
I am sorry you felt guilt tripped by your in laws. At the end of the day you need to do what works best for you and your baby. If you feel you want to wait, then you do you. 🫶

that’s so tough! I feel for you - it’s so hard in so many ways. Making the decision to ST was very difficult for me and i still have moments where i the guilt sets in again but i know it was the best for our situation. We did sleep training because my little would not sleep longer than 2 hours - sometimes just 20 min! I still BF to sleep at the beginning of the night (because i love it - and so does he!) and he does 7-10 hour stretches. Happy to chat if you have questions / worries.

please if you LO wake up during the night you still apply CIO according to the day you're in ?

@siham yes if they wake up in the middle of the night, you can wait 5-10 minutes to see if they settle. If not, you can go in and comfort them. If it's been 3-4 hours since you put them down, you can feed and change them. Then, put them back down. If they cry when you put them back down, start the timer again.
It's long and exhausting the first several nights, but it's worth it.
Feel free to PM me if you need more information/help. I have been helping my friend sleep train her LO. In less than 2 weeks, she went from needed to be nursed to sleep, co sleeping, waking every 2 hours. To falling asleep on her own, in her own room/crib, and sleeping through the night. Sometimes, with 1 wake up and sometimes just straight through.

thank you so much for your help just sent you a private message 🙏🙏🙏

Sleeping in own room. Night time sleeps 8-10hours, and has at least 2 naps in the day.
Been sleeping well since 5months old, some days wants 1 feed in the night but rarely. I feed her very well in the day.
I also use white noise machine and black out blinds to aid good sleep for my LO.
