Trying to conceive after D&C

Hi, I started to have a miscarriage on the 19th August, I had to have surgery on 5th September. Just trying to plan when to try again, anyone had surgical management for miscarriage and got advice when’s best to try again.

Thanks

I had surgical management on 23rd Aug - I was told to wait for my period before trying again

I was advised to wait 3 months, though I’d had 2 D&Cs within 4 weeks of each other due to the first not working. I fell pregnant immediately after waiting the 3 months!

I also got told this, but have been told its purely for dates not for medical reasons, so very intrigued to hear other opinions

They advise to wait at least one full cycle,to let your body heal and also then if you do fall again straight away, it’s much easier to date the pregnancy

I was told to wait until my bleeding had stopped, but they said I didn’t have to wait for my next period - so I ended up waiting around 8 days before starting to try again x

My dr. had suggested to wait a cycle. Besides that you can start whenever your ready. I needed a few months to emotionally heal

At least 1 cycle I heard.. I'm 3 months post surgical now

did you take ovulation tests to see if you was ovulating?

Avatar

I’m interested to know if they only tell you to wait until 1 cycle to make it easier for them dating the next pregnancy if you conceive straight away x

yes, I believe you can get pregnant earlier. If you are having a period then you already ovulated. Not sure if they want to confirm you are ovulating and no issues with surgery, like scar tissue or purely just so they can date your next pregnancy since it’s based off last pregnancy. My dr. told me to wait a few weeks just to heal physically from surgery, maybe 2 weeks before having sex again. I had bleeding from my D&C for probably about 2-3 weeks then had a period after 6 weeks from surgery.

yes I am still bleeding which is expected as my surgery was only a week ago also still have positive pregnancy test. I have bled for a month now almost in total and the thought of waiting to bleed again before trying is building me with dread as desperately wanted another baby asap x

Avatar

I get it. You do feel like your bleeding for awhile. As long as your dr. gives you the ok for sex then you can start trying whenever.

I did take ovulation tests - I didn’t ovulate between my D&C and my first period, but then I have issues with low progesterone and not ovulating so it’s not surprising x

I had surgery 17th March, told to wait for one cycle before ttc again but when I questioned the gynaecologist further, this seemed to be purely for dating purposes and nothing to do with recovery or needing to wait to have a better chance of a successful pregnancy etc.
I chose not to wait after doing some research. I ovulated 2 weeks after my bleeding stopped from the surgery and found out on 30th April we had conceived again. I’m 23 weeks now with our healthy rainbow baby.

hi same questions I have I miscarried on 6th this September and desperately want to try again for a baby . My miscarriage happens naturally at 13 weeks … it’s been one week already but I have still little bit bleeding .. when should I try again or should I wait or test for ovulation

Avatar

I’m sorry for your loss, I understand the heartbreak and the desperation.
I was still testing faintly positive whilst bleeding and because of positives on PTs my ovulation tests were also unreliable and coming back as positives. As soon as my bleeding stopped I tested negative (may have tested negative earlier but didn’t check) and my OPKs were also then back to being negative- but that’s when I knew to keep testing because if I saw them change to positive I knew it would be ovulation rather than a false positive. I started trying when my bleeding had stopped.
Can’t advise you on when to try again, only when you feel ready to or following the medical advice you were given. I hope you get your rainbow baby soon c

Pregnant with baby 2

Hi everyone! I gave birth via emergency c section 9 months ago as my baby boy was measuring big, he pooped inside so there was risk of him inhaling it and I wasn’t progressing past 3cm to have a natural birth and now I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I’m having a consultation on Tuesday to talk about birth options and to have any questions answered but I don’t know what to ask. I feel like it would be safer having a c section again but at the same time I don’t want a c section. Does anyone have any question ideas I could ask or any advice/stories of similar situations. Tia

I have a feeling like I might get attacked from this but I’m going to say it anyways. incognito 🥸 GLP1s being mainstream for regular people who are NOT diabetic or morbidly obese is bad for so many reasons 💉💉💉

Side affects, long term dependency, supply shortages and costs, regaining the weight back as soon as you get off them.. all that ASIDE how do people not see just from a zoomed out perspective how crazy it is. I can’t imagine being someone facing food insecurity in an underdeveloped country and watching westerners give themselves daily jabs so they can lose weight while still eating a calorie surplus/ crappy foods. It’s giving hunger games when district 12 Katniss finds out at the party at the capital that people eat and then take a pill to make themselves sick so they can 🤮 and eat some more. These ads running ozempic everywhere are disgusting, and then getting amazing athletes like Serena Williams to push them talking bout “i’ve never been healthier” girl you were an OLYMPIC athlete wym??

Planned c section

Has anyone had a planned c section and been home the same day?

Getting pregnant after c section

When did you get pregnant again after a c section? Our plan was always to have 2 under 2 but that is now out the window because I had an emergency section. I know they say 18 months and we will be sticking to it (as much as I don’t want to) but I’m curious how quickly you got pregnant after your section?

Movements

I’m 28 weeks tomorrow. Yesterday I had loads and loads of movements but today I have only felt small flutters and a couple of kicks throughout the day. I get so confused as some people say they don’t have a pattern but others say they do. We have a Doppler so used it this evening and could hear the heartbeat and then moving but does anyone else get quieter days of movement than others? I am seeing my midwife tomorrow so will check but just find myself getting anxious about it and don’t know when to get checked. I know they encourage it but last time as soon as I got to triage baby started moving loads!

Tips for babies with wind issues

My 5 week old has always had issues bringing up all his wind. When he’s laying on his back, he’s always grunting in pain to the point he cries and wakes himself up.

Spoke with a qualified physio who’s also qualified in baby massage and she said try concentric circles on baby. Small circles with a little pressure on their right (your left when facing you) from the bottom of their tummy up to their ribs and then going to the other side and doing the same. Then do the usual leg exercises with them (bicycle kicks, air squats, rotating them side to side etc)

I’ve also found this really helps doing it on my LBs back. I either use my thumb or two fingers when he’s up against me. I do both sides from bottom to top in small circles. He moves around and makes the grunting noises when I first do it but burps come out and after about 4/5 times he stops moving around or grunting at all and it’s meant he’s actually slept on his back and not had to cosleep!
