Bow legs are common in infants and toddlers under 18 months. Speak to your HV for reassurance. If it doesn’t correct itself by 18 months you’d want to go to the GP.

Normal in Babies! When I do check my sons legs (my dad is actually bow legged and has a leg shorter by half an inch) it's when he does his morning stretches and he always gets them nice n straight! So I don't worry.

They dont have much strenght on their legs and as they gain muscle and strenght the legs begin to strighten out. But if you are worried i would speak to the HV for reassurance as to like, when to be worried if they dont straighten out and stuff. But i wouldnt worry now. My sons were like that and have begun to straighten out. My partner was quite worries as well, but ive worked in childcare for years and was able to reassure him that if they dont like atraight by or soon after he starts walking then we can strt to worry and ask questions. And my partner is now noticing as well that our sons legs are looking straighter and not as bowed

This is normal for babies I was worried about my Bub too, however, if he does have bowed legs/rickets.. it’s a lack of vitamin D
Always work with your paediatrician xxx

Normal, I was worried too, and brought it up at a check up. Paediatrician said it's normal in babies but she checked him over to reassure me and said he's perfectly healthy 💪🏻

every baby is different.. he likes to sit, has good control of his head. When we are on the floor with him and holding his hands he will push himself up.

I’m not making him stand.

Avatar

thank you. I’ve messaged my HV just waiting on a reply x

Avatar

that’s ok hun, good luck with it anyway, he’s so gorgeous! Keep us posted xxx

He’s to young to have in that standing position, it can be bad for their hips

Avatar

thank you, I was about to delete it,

When he’s sitting on the floor with us and we are holding his hand he will push him self up xx

this is true xx

aww bless him, same with Mason, he’s been able to told his head up since newborn and always wanted to be sat up. Even midwife told us that it’s fine to sit him up from a young age because that’s what he wanted to do. He hated being layed down in his back… I may only be a mum for 17 weeks but I know that ALL baby’s are different xx

Avatar

thank you lovely… exactly they can see he’s being held also xx

Normal!!!!!!

My girls legs didn’t straighten up till she started walking. They are born naturally bowed, they have no kneecaps and their hip joints aren’t in place x

Avatar

this whole post was about bow legs. Not about him walking or standing…. I was simply asking about if his legs look bowed or not .. not to be shamed…. As you can see my partner is actually holding him and his feet are touching the floor he isn’t putting any weight on his chubby legs…. Mason always tried to pull himself up so he’s in the standing position… x

@Kerii my boy kust turned 4 months and keeps wanting to stand as well, he literally lifts his bum up and puts weight on his legs. Literally cant force him not to do that is hes the one doing it. And i have had comment about that as well 🫠🫠🫠 i hold him by his trunk so that he is not putting his whole body weight on his legs but how do you stop a child from doing something 🙃 mum shaming is so stupid.

Avatar

I’ve never understood mum shaming, I wouldn’t dream of it.. tbh it’s really upset me.. aww bless him these baby’s seem advanced lol… if that want to do something the will do it ( we can’t physically stop them ) when Mason is laying on his back he will try and sit himself up 😂🤣 he’s been able to support his own head since he was 2 months.. I even said to my midwife is this normal and should be be going this at 2 months lol she said not really but he’s a. Strong lil baby 😂🤣 exactly that we never let him put his weight on his legs/feet we support him xxx

Avatar

Ignore the mum shaming, it’s clear your partner is taking your babies weight and not making him stand. We did the same with my boy at that age.
Like everyone else has said it’s perfectly normal at this age as they’re still straightening after birth sort of like how they’re born with their arms up and takes a while for them to straighten.

thank you so much xxx

I think you're good, I worried about mine too but she's perfectly fine 🥰

thank you xx

My son had bow legs when born pretty badly but are now completely normal at 13 months and he isn’t walking yet.
