Ivf (well ICSI) is totally possible with those numbers. Remember it's usually represented as 3million per millilitre, and there's usually between 2 and 8ml per ejaculation, so although it's lower than the normal limit it's not actually a low number of sperm!

Did he abstain for the same number of days before every test? That could change things.

My partner has 1.5milliom per ml, but about 8mls of ejaculate, and morphology is between 1 and 2% so that's on the low side too. His motility is within normal ranges. We're having ICSI

I’m not sure day wise about abstaining. Don’t think it was as long this time. But to drop from 18 million to 3 million in a standard millilitre is very concerning. His sample was 2.5ml I think so guess that’s around 7.5 million in a sample. I read that they like it to be 39 million in a sample at least. Motility is lower than average at 25% but morphology is 23% which I think is good. Thank you for replying ❤️

You can totally do ICSI. Get him to start taking some vitamins too. Procieve tablets worked well for us.
Abstaining should be 2-3 days for best results.
Sperm regenerates around every 3 months.
Could be some lifestyle factors eg anything that makes the area warm, laptops, cycling, hot tubs / baths etc.
my husbands went up and down all the time lowest was 600k highest was 7.5 million.

With this huge dip he’s google diagnosed himself with prostate cancer and scared the life out of me! We are both on diets as we are overweight but I’m 39 soon so time is really running out. He wants tests to make sure nothing serious is going on down there but I’m wondering if the PH level being high is due to some sort of infection and maybe that’s what killing off the sperm to see such low numbers. He is taking really good vitamins and has been for quite a while, I think that’s why morphology and motility have gone up

thanks hun. Also good to hear. Hope you have some luck too! We are going to get some professional advice at a private clinic, but in the uk it’s difficult getting the likes of urologists etc unless the doctor will refer you and ours seems to be a pain in the rectum! 😡

also, what were his morphology and motility like? We’re they already fine? Because my partners motility isn’t great,although has improved

We had successful ICSI with a count of 5 million (total, not per ml) and less than 1% motility. Also 99% abnormal forms. Your numbers seem good in comparison! That’s what ICSI is for.

that gives me great hope!! Thank you so much. Did you get that on the nhs or private? I’ve no idea what these kind of treatments cost but I know I need to improve my BMI or they won’t even look at us as candidates! We can’t get anything in the nhs though

He would still be able to do IVF with ICSI with that count.
