Did anyone go off maternity leave early?

I will only be doing 6/7 months due to finances. I do feel guilty about it at times but it’s what is best for my family and I’m excited for baby to socialise.

They wanted me to take 8-12 weeks because i had a csection, i went back at 7.

I returned back to work at 6 months but only three days a week. Oh was made redundant when I was pregnant and managed to get a minimum wage job just as our son was born. Ironically I earned more doing 3 days that he did full time. It would have been nice to take a year off however it’s as my son got older and went to school nursery that I wished I had more time with him especially during the holidays.

I considered it until I realised how much childcare costs and decided it wasn't worth it for the £80 a week I'd have left after paying for nursery 😂

I’m not going back to work because I don’t wanna miss out on my baby’s milestones or them potentially getting neglected in daycare. On top of that daycare is so expensive I’d be working just to pay it and have a small amount extra to bring home. Not worth it to me. It is a struggle with one income but I’ve made a lot of sacrifices and we are still able to get by…I’m not doing a big Christmas because moments spent together are more important than lots of gifts anyways

I should of said my partner works nights so I’m only working mornings. I’m a daycare worker so I understand the money struggles. Tho I’ve never had a child neglected in my work xx

Meaning dad has them in the mornings not a carer x

I took 15 weeks and went back part time.

in the UK you get 9 months payed leave but it’s only roughly around 700 a month

what! Only 700? Do they give 100% compensation for any of that time? Idk about living wages there if it’s decent or not. Here at least at my job (in the US) you have to be here for a year and it’s 8 weeks paid, 8 weeks unpaid, but I can’t afford the unpaid 😞 every job is different it seems though.
