Not enjoying tummy time

Not sure if it will convey the action, but the sad swimming motion was what she was doing while trying to figure out the crawling. But then the arms got much stronger so she could push herself back up to sitting or a crawling position. It took about two weeks to get past that? Apparently sitting up is passive once they get the core strength so it probably is frustrating having to work towards the next step?

ah thank you both! She has been ‘swimming’ on till her tummy since she was about 5 months (now 7), but just can’t seem to work out how to get onto her knees yet! That’s interesting about sitting up, but makes sense! X

She might be a bum shuffler?
My first was. It's only now I have 2 I realise how little time my first spent on her tummy.
My second is always rolling around and playing on his tummy but my toddler never did any of that. She sat early and played upright 🙂

that’s what I was thinking! I recon she only spends like 10 mins max on her tummy a day. Just out of interest, when did she start shuffling, pulling herself up and walking? I wonder how she will pull herself up without that arm strength! X

Shes a may baby and started shuffling in January. So 7/8m. I dont remember when she started pulling herself up. She never properly cruised. A little bit but not a lot. I have photos of her standing in June so around 12/13m I guess?
And she learnt to walk and stand independently within 2 weeks In September, so 16m 😊

My son is the same. He's a little more confident then my daughter was. He likes to stand but my daughter never did. All she wanted to do was sit. Round 10 months she starts to crawl with alot of encouragement. I think my son will be the same. That said she didn't crawl fur long and walked at 11 months. As long as they're focusing on somthing. X

My daughter barely spent any time on her tummy. She hated it screamed instantly. My son maybe 5 to 10 mins 3 to 4 times a day. Once my daughter realised she could rotate all the way to grass things changed 😂

that’s really reassuring thank you! She’s somewhere between them I think. Sometimes she’ll be okay if I can distract her for 10 mins, but she’d so much rather be sitting or standing! X

Yeah same here. I started to change my daughter on her tummy that got a few minutes but yeah she hated it. Just keep trying I'm sure you'll get there x

We got a tunnel for my daughter. I'd spend ages crawling thro it around it etc playing peek a boo. She loved it definitely improved the time she did on her tummy and seemed to get her to want to crawl through it with me x
