My doctor said you can use the at home tests on baby. I never tried because their nose is so tiny I was nervous. I’ve only taken baby to doctor for covid tests. I hope you and baby are healthy. Make sure partner isolates and wear a mask if you have to go near him.

Try to stay calm lovely. Just monitor her temperature and seek advise if shows any signs of worrying with breathing. She may get a mild temp and cough but most babies don’t have any symptoms and it’s very rare for babies to be worryingly poorly with it

My newborn got covid off my sister, she absolute smashed and sailed through it whereas me and my partner suffered really bad

Currently have covid and 7w old is fine. Nhs guidance is to keep feeding. I'm breastfeeding and LO is absolutely smashing it

We're staying home but aren't testing baby. The tests are horrible for adults noway would I shove it up their tiny nose 🤣 if little one shows symptoms we will monitor and the second it looks like it could be bad Wed go to hospital x

My 4 month old had it last week and we found it quite easy to test - literally a piece of snot in the test tube worked to get the positive. If you’re BF keep it up, if you’ve had the vaccine the baby will have antibodies already which will help keep them safe x

Thank you ladies, feel so much calmer already reading all of these comments❤️

As you feed her you’ll be giving her antibodies 💕 don’t stress too much, babies have a much different time of it. My girl had it at 8 weeks and I only tested her because a few family members who’d held her caught it, turns out she was Patient X 🤣 she had a lot of snot but that was about it.
If you’ve already got symptoms in the house, everyone is already exposed days ago so don’t stress about isolating yourselves from each other. Continue as normal xx

My newborn got covid a couple of years ago and she was honestly fine. She was a little bit groggy for literally 2 days and fine after that, she’s had common colds and been way more poorly with that. You know your baby though, just go with your gut and if you feel they aren’t managing well, get them seen. But babies are more resistant than you think & I tested my little girl, just literally wiped the end of the test bud around her nose where she was snotty and that did the trick xxx

My baby had covid at 10 weeks. Me and his dad were herendous but baby was just a bit sleeper than usual. Babies seem to deal with it much better than adults x

My partner and I caught COVID when our LO was 5 days old (from hospital). We wore masks and didn't kiss him obviously but he never showed any symptoms and was completely fine thankfully. I was breastfeeding so hopefully he got antibodies and I'd been jabbed when pregnant so might have helped.

Definitely keep calm ans watch baby for symptoms. It's not a guarantee but when my son had covid we did the at home test using just his snot/didn't go all the way into the nostril like you would for an adult and it was very positive from that (I'd imagine it increases the risk of false negs though). We don't get covid jabs in the UK that young but it did end up causing croup with my son at 8m and he was quite bad with it so just keep monitoring baby for symptoms/keep an eye on temp. The doctors looking after my son kept commenting about how rare it is for babies to be affected as well so I wouldn't worry too much if you're monitoring temps💕 antibodies from you help, mum's antibodies even when not BF can stay in the blood from pregnancy for a while too xx

Hi lovely, firstly don’t panic - you’ll both be fine :) my LG and I had Covid when she was 4 months old - it rarely flares up in young babies / toddlers, and often is nothing more than a little cold (affects adults much worse!).
That being said, you can take sensible precautions to try to avoid passing it onto her - ie wear a mask when feeding, be mindful of getting too near her face for cuddles etc, and generally just wash wash wash hands! My hands were red raw by the end of it!
As mentioned my LG caught it and was back to herself in about 3 or 4 days.
Hope you feel better soon, and hope your little one manages to avoid it, but if not don’t panic too much, just monitor her (ie temp and breathing).
Ps. We were able to Covid test her using a nose Frida (snot sucker) then using the mucus out of that to roll onto the Covid test stick - much safe than trying to poke anything up her nose (avoid that if you can!).
Hope you all feel better soon - take care x

that nose frida to do a test is genius! Thank you x

Here’s some comfort my fiancé when my son was 3 weeks old got Covid and we slept in the same bed my son never got it an he continued helping with the baby because they are contagious up to 5 days before symptoms so the babies already exposed my son also got Covid at 4 months old and we did and at home test just be very gentle and he was perfectly fine only had light congestion when the rest of us where dying babies actually handle Covid better than adults most of the time unless they have other health issues so just monitor if they get it they get it just make sure you handle to congestion if present and monitor the fever if they get one

Update- have just done a test and she is positive😞 glad to hear that most babies aren’t too poorly with it if at all! Thank you ladies❤️

I have covid at the moment and I am EBF little one. Apart from being a bit grouchy he seems to be doing okay :) I just keep an eye on his temp I however am rough!!
