So my boy is 16 weeks he was on the 9th centile but today he got weighed now he’s 11.11lbs he was 6.6lbs when he was born. But the Hv just said that he’s on the 2nd centile now I’m not really sure what that means? Baby got really really aggy so she done what she had to do and left before I had chance to ask 😩he’s always been a small baby

It means for every 100 babies 98 will be bigger and 1 will be smaller. My daughter was born on 75th centile and is no 2nd
so he’s the 1 small one? Xx

No 1.baby would be smaller than him so he's 2nd smallest in the average of 100 babies but it's the trend that's more important in growth. So like pregnant they are expected to follow their growth line whether that's 2nd centile, 50th centile or 97th centile

Mine is second as well. I think of it as meaning she's in the 2% of smallest babies in the country for her age. She was on 9th and they don't seem worried about her drop from 9th to 2nd but I think they would be concerned if she dropped further.
I get you thankyouu, when I was pregnant I did get told he was a small baby. His dad is short and skinny as anything lol xx
ah okay, yeah she said for me to just try feed him a little more when he is aggy but I always thought not to soothe babies with milk 🤷🏼♀️x

Ah bless him. He's perfect as he is 🙂, especially if he's happy and showing all the signs he's healthy x
thankyou❤️ mostly happy just this sleep regression is a killer haha xx

my LO is also on the 2nd centile, she was 6lb7 when she was born on the 9th but dropped to 2nd, she has a cmpa and reflux too.
just makes me feel like i’ve done something wrong but this post has reassured me so much!

don't feel like you've done anything wrong. Her growth is great considering. I have babies with allergies also its hard going x

thank you 🥺, i get her weighed every week because i’m so worried that she’s not gaining as much weight as she should

@Sian it's stressful isn't it. My youngest is my third with allergies and tbh I'm so much more chilled this time around 🤦♀️. We're still being weighed by the HV from birth . She was prem at 34 weeks but weighed 5lb 3 so was on 75th centile. She's now on 2nd but she is no longer screaming in horrible pain, fighting to feed while arching her back and vomiting as much. We're also now on neocate formula. Hopefully weaning will help them when it's time

my little one is on neocate too! we’ve tried around 4 other formulas and this is the only one that has made her happy and smiley ☺️

@Sian good. Smiles are worth it. Just for them to not be in pain and smile! We went straight to neocate from GP because my older daughter has multiple allergies. Still waiting to be seen at the hospital due to the long waiting list.

my gp could only prescribe pepti 1, so we got referred to a dietician who prescribed the neocate which was a battle and a half to get from any pharmacy 😅 we got there in the end and she’s all the better for it! ☺️
I’m glad we are on the same page this group is great to feel a little better once you know your not alone❤️ my baby is getting weighed every month now x

@Sian oh your telling me! 5 pharmacy later! And then had to order it in 😆. It really doesn't smell pleasant but it's certainly an improvement x
