Moving states while on state assistance

Has anyone ever moved states while utilizing state assistance?
Our lease will be up soon and we need to find somewhere bigger for our growing family. We currently reside in Maryland but were looking into the possibility of moving to Pennsylvania. The main issue is that we receive food stamps and day care vouchers and will continue to need them. We have no support system, it's just my boyfriend and I, the family that we do have are all either deceased or older and unable to help. Pennsylvania would allow us to have more for roughly what we're currently paying whereas if we stay here I don't even know that we'd be able to afford anything more than the tiny two bedroom apartment we're currently in. Has anyone ever successfully moved to a different state while still needing state assistance - any recommendations?

I think all you have to do is call to state that you’re leaving Maryland on a specific date and request to have your assistance to start in Pennsylvania on a specific date. That way there isn’t much of a gap in between

You may be subject to a new income verification process and its possible the assistance in PA has different requirements than MD. You should start by calling PA DES and explain the situation then ask them what to do. They should be able to walk you through it all. ❤
