I have read that “any formula that your baby does not finish within 1 hour of heating and/or serving needs to be thrown away.” Please does this really matter? I feel like it would be wasteful especially when baby has a habit of taking breaks in between feeds.

Yes. The longer the milk is left the more likely it is to breed bacteria which could make baby quite poorly. How many breaks does your LO take in between feeds? An option is to make smaller bottles or split the bottles. Any milk that hasn't been used in a bottle can be left for 2 hours. It's only an issue once it's been used.

Yea, it matters.
The chances of the milk growing harmful bacteria and making your baby poorly is high.
As others have said, make smaller feeds, or split the feed before you offer it.
Untouched Milk left at room temperature is good for 2 hours but you can make it and store it in the fridge for 24 hours.

I agree with the ladie upbove it good to use within two hours and that come from my hv because my little girl sometimes takes longer to feed and she fine

Our boy is a slower eater and we checked with health visitor and she said aslong as the milk is disposed of within 2 hours it should be fine. We use whatever we can from the bottle for the 2 hours (usually he demolishes the lot in the 2 hours) then make fresh bottle after that when he’s hungry again ☺️
