HELP - 41 weeks today..

Hi ladies. I am 41 weeks pregnant today, we attempted a sweep at my 40 week midwife appointment however she couldn’t do it because my cervix was too high. I have done all I can over the last week to help get baby moving, walking, kerb walking, ball bouncing, raspberry leaf tea, baths, clary sage oil.. and still nothing..

I know I only have 1 week to go but have a midwife appointment today for another sweep trial and really not wanting to be induced. Did this happen to anybody else and if so what did you do?xx

I’m sorry to not contribute with a story for but just wanted to say hope you’re ok and have a successful and safe birth as i can only imagine how you are feeling! 🙏🏽

You don't have to be induced! I gave birth at 42+4 to a beautiful boy. I refused induction as there was nothing wrong with the baby or me and all bodies will go into labour eventually. I opted for placenta scans to make sure blood flow was adequate still and monitoring of baby rather than induction. They'll probably tell you about stillbirth risks after 42 weeks (AIMS have good research disproving this), and there's lots out there on the actual risk of meconium in lungs and placenta failure. I know it's hard, but you will go into labour when your baby is ready, hang in there and don't let anyone tell you what to do, trust your instincts 🥰

I agree with Fiona, I was 41+2 and wasn’t induced or had a sweep as I decided not to, I decided baby would come when he was ready x

I gave birth the day before I was due to be induced after two failed sweeps.

Three days leading up to my labour I did two of these videos daily https://youtube.com/@PregnancyandPostpartumTV?si=P7anfvgUAR_SLWN-

I did a mindfulness meditation ready for labour video off of YouTube once a day.

I also watched my three favourite comedy films as Id read laughing helps induce labour.

It may have been coincidence (probably was) but the meditation made me feel relaxed, the yoga helped me prepare for labour and the comedy made me feel good so there was no harm in trying! It helped me to feel productive rather than just waiting around getting frustrated ❤️

I also had a really quick labour (active labour for 30 mins)

Don't be so hard on yourself and try not to stress too much xxx

As a birth doula, I would suggest no to an induction. Stop letting your midwife do sweeps on you. And just trust your body and baby, and most importantly God. Be patient, let go of worries. God knows the day and time, your baby is coming.

I had a second sweep at 40+6 and baby came the following day at 41 weeks. Do whatever you can to relax. I did lots of walking, swimming, bouncing on the ball but in the end I went into labour on the sofa watching reality tv 😂 sending you lots of luck and hope that baby decides to make an appearance soon 😊 x

Happened to me! I had two failed sweeps, three days before I was due in to be induced I started with back labor which lasted for two days and then she was born the day before I was due to be brought in, thank god!
