Is this normal?
I'm 34 weeks 2 days pregnant. While on my break today at work I fell asleep for about an hour. When I woke up my hand felt a bit funny then when I looked it looked swollen. Compared it to my other hand and tried to make a fist. Only 1 hand is swollen. Is this normal? I haven't had any sort of swelling throughout this pregnancy and seems so random! Thanks

Could possibly be Carpal tunnel? It's a sneaky pregnancy symptom that I've just found out about as I've got it in my right hand/arm!
@Michaela Armstrong mine is literally just my hand! Doesn't go further than my wrist. Do I need to contact my midwife/triage about it or will it just come and go as it pleases? Xx
If it is carpal tunnel,it would come and go and you may feel tingling,numbness,slight discomfort and minor swelling in your hand depending on wrist position (mine is worse in the mornings when I wake up and if I'm carrying bags for example) But if you're concerned,I would mention to midwife and see what they say- rather safe than sorry Xx
Yes, it is normal but I don't think there's any harm in contacting your midwife about it. It could be carpal tunnel which is common in pregnancy
It’s not normal to have swelling in one hand or foot and not the other.
It’s classed as a serious issue due to potential for blood clots. I suggest going to triage if you can’t rule out falling asleep on the swollen hand.
