Mum to be with severe milk allergy
I'm 34 weeks pregnant with my little girl. As I have a severe milk allergy, my girly hasn't been introduced to any milk.
I have spoken to my midwife about this, but she didn't have enough information.
Is there a chance she could have my allergy or even an intolerance to milk as I can't introduce it to her?
Do any of you have an allergy and experience with this?
I want to try to breast feed but I am also thinking of taking premade formula in my hospital bag and wanting to try her with that while around medical professionals.
Am I over thinking this?
No you're not overthinking it at all! I breastfed my 1st&she has CMPA&soya allergy, so I had to cut these out of my diet to feed her. I have since followed this again with my newborn as he started showing similar reactions early on. Whilst going dairy and soya free I had to be prescribed calcium tablets as otherwise I wouldn't have enough in my diet and this would've also been the case for baby. I got a referral to a dietician for my first born, and tbh I think you should try and push for that now. I combi fed and was able to get prescribed formula which was diary free and helped to ensure LO got her calcium. More than likely a dietician would tell u that there's no reason why your baby will have the same allergies even though u have it, but I know as a new mum you will be feeling concerned and cautious about this, so you're right to be careful and ask these questions. Even if your baby doesn't have it, I would push for assistance as if u breastfeed u need to be sure that they will get what they need
