@Abby Noah’s tongue tie was missed on several occasions despite me telling them I was sure he had one due to the symptoms he was displaying and he has dropped centiles too. Hoping it all goes well. Thank you
@Keeley I was thinking of holding off giving him a bottle as I was worried it would potentially cause an issue. Thank you
I’m worried my little boy has tongue tie, but not sure? What do I look out for?
@infant.feeding.specialist on Insta has some great info. This is also a good resource for exercises afterwards https://www.drchelseapinto.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Baby-Mouth-Massage-Exercises_Pinto.pdf x
Hi, my little boy had his done at 4 weeks. It look about two weeks for his latch on the boob to improve and about 3 on the bottle. Made such a difference instantly though. X
@Rumbi with Noah, he doesn’t stay on for long or stays on forever and falls asleep, milk spills out the sides of his mouth, he is unsatisfied, gassy, can’t stick his tongue out and his weight gain slowed. For me, my nipples are sore and feeding is not a comfortable experience. I had been saying for ages how I think he has a tongue tie and I was dismissed constantly but was finally heard after persisting with it. If you are concerned speak to your HV or GP about it and you could get a feeding assessment by your HV
@Keeley Noah has been to see an osteopath and we have his final appointment the following week after he is seen for his tongue tie and hoping it will make a world of difference for him.
@Victoria Noah has been to see an osteopath before his division so hoping it makes a difference, we are also booked to see her again a week after his division. We would have gone private but were unable to afford it but I would have 100% gone private if I could have.
@Victoria we have had two sessions so far, I tried to get an earlier appointment but she only works at the clinic once a week, I’m going to call them tomorrow to see if I can get an earlier appointment with another osteopath
@Victoria what oral exercises should I be doing post TT for him? I just want to make sure I am doing as much as I can to help him
@Victoria thank you so much. I’m so nervous because I want it to go well and don’t want any issues post TT to surface
Our little one had his done for the same reasons, and things improved so quickly. The doctor went so quick, and he cries more in the waiting room than after the doctor did it!
@PJ👋 @Lana @Victoria @Keeley @Rachel @Lucy once you got the tongue tie cut, did you notice a difference in their sleep at night as in did they sleep better? Did you also find that they were taking in fuller feedings and were more satisfied and could go longer between feeds? Noah only goes a maximum of 2 hours between feeds
I had my little boys cut at 11weeks due to dropping from 75th centile at birth to the 0.4 centile by 10 weeks....it had been missed on a number of occasions. The procedure was quick and much better than I expected, they get you to feed them straight after. It took a week or so for him to get used to the new movement he has, but then his latch has improved after that initial time. Good luck! Xx
