LO Keeps Unlatching

My 4 wk old has recently went from BF completely fine when latching on/feeding, to now unlatching and struggling to latch on without a fair few attempts & guidance. He also gets really angry/ fussy and starts kicking his legs, throwing hands, crying & going red faced.. plus he’s been spitting up a fair bit recently. Not sure why all of this is happening out of the blue :( think it may be reflux, not 100% sure. Any one else’s LO in a similar way and have any advice??

Hi, my little 4 week old is the same! We have been breastfeeding absolutely fine, which I am beyond grateful for 🙏 but recently, she has been getting so frustrated! Kicking off at the boob 😂 and I have no idea why? xxx

We have had a similar experience. I gave him a MAM dummy to pacify him when he was unsettled. He would route for the breast but then not latch or pull away. It also helped when he wanted to feed for comfort but was refluxy and feeding made that worse. He was also straining alot to poo/getting upset but not constipated. My little one is now 6 weeks and is starting to come out of it but I'm going to speak to the GP about a potential cows milk allergy.

Yep also had this over the last 2 weeks, she will be 6 weeks Wednesday. We have our 6 week review that day so I think I might mention it to the Drs then as also thought it could be reflux or cows milk allergy! Xx

This is exactly my 4 week old. I had a meltdown yesterday as thought maybe it meant my supply had dropped and he wasn’t getting enough out but he does seem better today. He does get very windy so I think his may be that 🤷‍♀️

I have had the same with my 3 week old, the trick i found works is to get him to suck on his dummy for a few second and then to do a quick swap to boob.
