So we got a star blanket which when it’s colder are great as a bit like a coat but a blanket :)
I leave him in a knitted cardigan if we’re not going too far and sometimes put the window down a little bit, I’ll leave the cardigan open though

Because the straps need to be tight to the body. Bulky items like coats, cardigans etc will compress under high impact in a crash which means the child won't be restrained sufficiently to protect them
As long as it's only thin then it's fine. I wouldn't do a knitted one though
