I'm not in the same situation you are, but I also felt strange that my child didn't look like me at all. She is also biracial, and I didn’t expect her to be light skinned or anything, but I was surprised at the lack of any of my facial features. It's taken a few years for me to see that she actually does look like me when I was her age. And because I'm white and she's not people do tend to assume she is adopted. I just correct anyone if it's mentioned or work a pregnancy story into the conversation. As time goes on his features will change and his personality will come out more. You may find he's more like you than you feel right now.
I don't think my son looks like me at all. But also 8 weeks is very little. My hair color changed until I was 7 years old. It was black when I was born, orange for a while, then it went super blonde. Now it's a weird brownish color naturally. Also I read that eye color changes until I think 5 years. Babies are often born with blue eyes.
Be careful to not put too much energy into this. At 8 weeks your baby is still a newborn and once’s he’s 4, 5, 6 months old he’ll look so different. Also, genetics are funny. Things skip generations. Ultimately your baby is who he is. It won’t help you or him to put too much emphasis on who he looks like. If he hears your concerns about this as he grows up, it will definitely give him a complex.
I'm mixed black and white my man is black our oldest didn't get any melanin until he was like 1 our second who is 2 months is as light as me if not lighter with red eyebrows and red brown hair and grey eyes for some reason I feel like he's not gonna get any darker but ya never know only time will tell he's still very little
I totally understand, when my daughter was born she was lighter skin and everyone said omg she looks just like you, now at 5 months her melanin is poppin and her features look just like her daddy, like literally I gave birth to my husband….🙄 At first I was super butt hurt but realized she may not look like me but she acts just like me in all ways…so now when people make comments I just say “she looks like her daddy, acts just like her mama”
The same thing happened to my auntie she had a daughter with blonde hair and green eyes. It wasn’t until she was older you could see the resemblance to her sibling and parents
I want you to go out and buy a children’s book called “where’s my mom?” By Julia Donaldson. It’s about a monkey who’s lost his mum and a butterfly tries to help him but the butterfly keeps taking the little monkey to all these different animals. The monkey doesn’t understand why the butterfly keeps getting it wrong… until the butterfly shows the monkey her little caterpillar babies she says she didn’t realise little monkeys mum would look like little monkey because her babies don’t look like her… I just think it would be a really sweet book to read your littles ones 🩷
I haven’t experienced this personally, but I’d like to encourage you that your baby is still extremely young - his features may change a lot as he gets older! Some babies start out with blue eyes and they later turn a different color. Same for hair. So it’s still possible he could look a lot like you and your daughter 😊
