Napping

Is anyone else struggling with getting their little ones to nap in the day? Some days my little boy flat out refuses a nap, so will go all the way from 6:30 until 18:30 with no nap. But I have to take him out for the whole day when he does this as it’s the only way I can stop him trying to go to sleep at 4pm. Hopefully it’s just a phase 🥲

I’m literally having the same thing! I try going out for fresh air, winding her down but sometimes nothing works although sometimes feels more like all the time at the minute 🤦🏻‍♀️ the only time she’ll defo sleep is if we are out in the car. Very hard as she’ll just be a nightmare all afternoon cause she’s tired 😫 No advice really but you’re not alone!

@Emily it’s good just knowing we’re not alone I think! Xx

yes! my son is fighting his nap really bad recently and then he’s tired and very grumpy by 4pm

Same here. My lo started nursery 3 days a week and refuses to sleep there so he just powers through. I think it is too early to skip naps altogether but nothing I can do…

Same here, my LO is randomly not taking a nap some days now, but he's usually in good enough form up until shortly before bed time even if he does.. I still offer him a nap everyday and some days he will go down for 2-3hours and other days he just plays in his cot for about an hour and then wants me get him out. I'm glad I saw this post as it makes me feel better I'm not the only one going through this!

Same here! My boys 19 months and is desperate to not nap! I’m hoping they don’t drop that nap anytime soon because I need that hour as much as he does!

If my LG hasn’t had a nap by 1pm and is fighting I put her in the pram for a walk or go off in the car for abit, she tends to nod off then, luckily she usually stays asleep when I move her, I know it doesn’t work for everyone, but even if I can get her to do 40-60mins on a bad day it helps

@Ashling I honestly wish we could still do this. Used to be really easy to take him in the pram or car and he’d fall asleep instantly if he was tired. Now there’s a battle to even get him in the pram or car when he’s tired and once he’s in he’s more interested in looking around than actually sleeping. Starting to realise that he definitely needs the naps though as he’s now waking up at night which he hasn’t done now since he was about 10 months old 🤦🏼‍♀️
