This is happening with my son as well he’s turning 2 next week (and we also have a cold so I was attributing it to that) - but I have read it’s not helpful to wake them up. I do the same as the above commenter - just hold him or rub his back til he falls back asleep it’s usually pretty quick.
@Morgan no this helps a lot! My instinct was to get her out of it. But the one night I did that by turning on lights and TV. It took hours to get her back to bed. Plus I made the bad choice to finish my episode of Call the Midwife. Which probably traumatized. She keeps putting her baby dolls in my nightgown and pulling them out 😂 she doesn't get enough sleep. We'll work on that.
@Lauren thank you yes I won't wake her next time!
My daughter is doing the same, happens a couple times a night. Very frustrating
This has happened with my daughter several times and the first few times it was really frightening. Now I have figured out that I think that she is dreaming and is doing things in her sleep and then it’s like sleepwalking or some thing. Sending positive vibes💜
My oldest son started to do that around 2.5/3, and he still does it, but it's rare now, and he will be 5 in December. The dr just said it's night terrors, and it's common at this age and can last until they are a teen they never really said what to do about it just that he will grow out of it. They say it's more common if the child doesn't get enough sleep or if they get startled in their sleep with a loud noise, such as a door shutting. I just try to lay by him and gently rub his face or pat his back but i don't pick him up (he tends to get worse) and let him know Mama is there, and after a while he calms down and goes back to sleep. I know that's not much help, but that is our experience with it!
