It will entirely depend on how much you earn the rest of the year, if you’re over the tax threshold, how long you’re claiming SMP for… you will pay tax and NI but if you’re under/close to the threshold for the year it won’t be a lot.

Thanks for confirming @Clarice it’s just so confusing as my friend who has earned over 30k so far this tax year, just got paid basic smp this month and didn’t pay any tax on it xx
